Food Flask Ideas for School, Work and Walks
Hot soup, noodles, kids’ pasta and a protein coffee: easy food flask ideas for school, work and walks, and how to keep them hot for hours.

In this guide
It’s 7.40am. You’re halfway out of the door with your Stanley in one hand and your keys in the other, and it’s filled with the same thing it’s filled with every morning.
Then there’s the dog walk, the football sideline, the school run, the afternoon on site. Somewhere along the way you’re cold, a bit hungry, and standing next to a kiosk selling something you don’t really want.
So here’s a question worth asking: what if the thing in your cup did more than keep your hands warm?
These are six things worth putting in your flask or Stanley cup this winter. Four drinks, two lunches, all of them hot, savoury or protein-packed, and all of them better than what the car park kiosk is selling.
All six at a glance
| Idea | Carry it in | Use | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Protein coffee | Stanley cup or coffee flask | Pure Beef | Morning commute, non-breakfast people |
| Protein matcha latte | Stanley cup or coffee flask | Pure Beef | Desk days, matcha fans |
| Beef Marrow mug | Drinks flask | Beef Marrow | Dog walks, football sidelines |
| Ginger chicken sipper | Drinks flask | Chicken + Veg | Grey days, feeling run-down |
| Proper soup | Food flask | Chicken + Veg | Lunch on site or on a walk |
| Little ones’ pasta in broth | Children’s food flask | Chicken + Veg | School lunches |
1. The protein coffee
Your usual coffee, with one tablespoon of Pure Beef stirred in. It adds 9.6g of protein, more than an egg, and because the flavour is neutral it still tastes like your coffee. If you’re not a breakfast person, this is the easiest win there is.
Top tip: stir the powder into a splash of hot coffee first to make a smooth paste, then top up. No clumps at the bottom of your cup.
2. The protein matcha latte
Add a tablespoon of Pure Beef to your frother with your milk and matcha. Same green goodness, now with 9.6g of protein. It travels beautifully in a Stanley and makes the 3pm slump far more bearable.
3. The Beef Marrow mug
One tablespoon of Beef Marrow in 250–300ml of hot water, a pinch of salt and plenty of black pepper. Rich, deep and the closest thing to a roast dinner in a cup. On a 7am dog walk or a freezing sideline, nothing beats it. Make a full flask and you’ll be the most popular person there.
4. The ginger chicken sipper
Chicken + Veg with a few slices of fresh ginger dropped straight into the flask and a squeeze of lemon. The ginger keeps infusing as you go, so the last cup is the best one. It’s our award-winning cook’s broth, full of real chicken flavour, so it tastes like proper homemade soup.
5. Proper soup for lunch
Blitz leftover roast veg with Chicken + Veg broth for a thick, warming soup that holds its heat for hours in a food flask. It turns Sunday’s leftovers into Monday’s lunch, and it costs a fraction of a meal deal.
6. Little ones’ pasta in broth
Small pasta shapes cooked in Chicken + Veg broth, with peas and a little grated cheese, packed into a pre-warmed children’s food flask. It’s mild, familiar and easy to eat with a spoon. Our Pure Beef and Chicken + Veg broths have no salt added, which makes them easy to use in children’s food. Heat it until piping hot before it goes in.
Stanley cup or flask?
Both have their place. The trick is matching the container to the day.
Brilliant for coffee and lattes at your desk, in the car or on the school run. Most aren’t leakproof, so keep them upright and out of your bag.
The one for walks, sidelines and lunches. Sealed, leakproof and built to keep broth and soup hot for hours.
How to keep your flask hot for longer
Fill it with boiling water, seal it for five minutes, then tip it out. This makes the biggest difference.
Pour your drink or soup in as close to boiling as is safe.
Less air means less heat lost.
Every peek lets heat escape.
Why broth belongs in your flask
Ask yourself: how often do you buy something on the go just because you’re cold and it’s there? A pouch of our broth makes 30 servings, which works out at around 83p a cup. It’s warming, savoury and actually gives you something back, from 9.6g of protein in a spoonful of Pure Beef to the slow-simmered richness of Beef Marrow. No simmering for 16 hours, because we’ve already done that part for you.
Questions people ask
Can you put bone broth in a flask?
Yes. Make it up at home, pour it into a pre-warmed flask and it will stay hot for hours.
Can you put soup in a Stanley cup?
You can, but most Stanley-style tumblers aren’t leakproof. For soup on the move, a sealed food flask or food jar is the safer bet.
Will protein powder clump in hot coffee?
Not if you make a paste first. Stir Pure Beef into a splash of hot coffee, then top up. A quick stir before you seal the cup helps too.
How long does soup stay hot in a flask?
In a good, pre-warmed vacuum flask, several hours. Check the guidance for your flask.
