High-Protein Breakfast Ideas Without Eggs
You can only eat so many eggs. Here are ten savoury breakfast ideas with real protein, and not a single egg in sight.

In this guide
Eggs are brilliant. They’re also, if you’ve been eating them every morning for the past six months, a little bit relentless.
Maybe you’re bored. Maybe eggs don’t agree with you. Maybe you just want breakfast to taste of something different for once. Whatever the reason, there’s a whole world of savoury breakfasts beyond the frying pan.
Why protein at breakfast?
For many of us, breakfast is the lightest meal of the day for protein: a slice of toast, a bowl of cereal, a coffee on the way out of the door. Most of our protein then arrives at dinner.
Research suggests that spreading protein more evenly across the day is a smarter way to eat. You don’t have to overhaul your mornings to do it. You just need a few go-to options.
Ten savoury breakfasts without eggs
For mornings with no time at all
- Protein coffee. Stir a tablespoon of Pure Beef into your usual coffee. It adds 9.6g of protein and, because the flavour is neutral, it still tastes like your coffee. Mix it into a splash of hot coffee first, then top up.
- A breakfast mug. A mug of Chicken + Veg with a squeeze of lemon. Warm, savoury and gentle on a slow stomach.
- Cottage cheese on toast. Top with cherry tomatoes, olive oil and black pepper.
For mornings with ten minutes
- Smoked salmon bagel. With cream cheese, capers and dill.
- Beans on toast, upgraded. Simmer tinned cannellini beans with garlic, spinach and a spoonful of broth powder, then pile onto sourdough.
- Savoury yoghurt bowl. Greek yoghurt with cucumber, chilli oil, toasted seeds and a pinch of salt. It sounds unusual; it tastes wonderful.
- Tofu scramble. Crumble firm tofu into a pan with turmeric, spring onion and a little Pure Chicken for flavour.
For slow weekends
- Congee. Rice simmered slowly in Pure Chicken until silky, finished with ginger, spring onion and sesame oil. It’s a breakfast staple across much of Asia for good reason.
- Breakfast ramen. Noodles in Beef Marrow with greens, mushrooms and a few slices of leftover roast meat.
- Savoury porridge. Cook oats in broth instead of milk, then top with sautéed mushrooms and a little parmesan.
Sneaking protein into breakfasts you already eat
You don’t have to change what you eat to get more protein in the morning. Because Pure Beef has a neutral flavour, it disappears into:
- Smoothies
- Pancake and waffle batter
- Overnight oats
- Your morning coffee or tea
One tablespoon, 9.6g of protein, and nobody at the table needs to know.
Questions people ask

Yoghurt, cottage cheese, smoked fish, beans, tofu and bone broth are all great options. A tablespoon of Pure Beef stirred into your coffee adds 9.6g of protein.
Does bone broth in coffee taste weird?
Not with a neutral broth like Pure Beef. Mix it into a splash of hot coffee first so it dissolves smoothly.

The no-effort breakfast upgrade
Pure Beef is made for mornings: neutral in flavour, 9.6g of protein per tablespoon, and it stirs into coffee, smoothies and batter. For congee and savoury porridge, Pure Chicken is the cook’s broth.
